Headshot of Director Travis Martin

The University is pleased to announce that Dr. Travis Martin will become the new Associate Dean of Students and Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life at the University of Michigan on July 1, 2021. Dr. Martin comes to U-M from Northwestern University, where he has served as Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life for the past five years. During his tenure at Northwestern, Travis was instrumental in implementing a strategic plan and a new funding model through partnerships with auxiliary services, alumni relations and development, and other university stakeholders. With Travis’ leadership, Fraternity and Sorority Life at Northwestern implemented a comprehensive harm-reduction and risk management program in collaboration with University partners that provided student education regarding hazing, bias/racism, sexual assault prevention, alcohol, and other drugs, and mental health. Travis is currently appointed to the National Pan-Hellenic Council’s national task force for planning relative to current on-campus realities, implications for programming, and higher education trends, and is an active member of the NASPA Fraternity & Sorority Life Taskforce co-chairing a working group on designing the disciplinary process for chapters. Dr. Martin also serves on the Peer Review Board for Oracle: The Resource Journal of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors. Travis earned a Ph.D. in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia, an M.Ed. in higher education leadership from the University of Arkansas, and a B.S, in biology from Mississippi Valley State University. He has a long list of scholarly accomplishments, including publications, presentations, and courses taught. We look forward to having Dr. Martin join Student Life.
