Letter to Panhellenic Community Regarding Events on January 6, 2021 at the US Capital

January 8, 2021

Dear Panhellenic Community,

The Panhellenic Association at the University of Michigan is deeply saddened by the recent events in Washington D.C. Along with all of you, The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and the Panhellenic Executive Board have been processing the events of Wednesday at the Capitol. The insurrection at the United States Capitol was an unprecedented and deeply concerning event. Therefore, we want to extend our outreach and support to all of you, as we are committed to your safety and wellness.

For those of you struggling to process these events, we encourage you to seek guidance and support at the University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Likewise, the University offers addiction resources through University Health Services.

Other Resources provided by CAPS and the FSL Community:

Additionally, the Panhellenic Executive Board is in full support of and in agreement with President Schlissel’s  Statement of violence at U.S. Capitol. Wednesday’s violence was an assault on our liberty and Democracy, and we condemn those who participated in the insurrection and sought to dismantle our democratic process.

If you have any additional questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out via email ([email protected]). This is a difficult time for all of us, and the Panhellenic Executive Board shares in your uncertainty and concerns.

Best,

2021 Panhellenic Executive Board
