More Staff Support for Greek Life

After a national search, December 2, 2014 was the official start date for Shannon Cohen, Greek Life’s second Assistant Director.  With membership in Michigan’s Greek Community at an all-time high, additional university funding was welcome news.  In addition to a second AD, the funding allowed for the position of NPHC/MGC Advisor to be made permanent.

This is really a homecoming for Shannon, as she served as a graduate assistant in the Office of Greek Life during the two years she was working on her Masters in Higher Education at Michigan.  An undergrad from the University of Massachusetts, Shannon spent two years post-graduation as a Travelling Educational Consultant for her sorority (Alpha Epsilon Phi).  Since receiving her Masters, Shannon was employed by Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity International Headquarters as Coordinator of Leadership and Training.  Among other things, she brings a wealth of experience and expertise in curriculum writing, assessment, and online learning to her new position.

Director of Greek Life, Mary Beth Seiler, says that the additional staff will allow her to focus on initiatives that will advance the community as a whole.  This could include such things as alumni involvement, development efforts, and relationship-building with inter/national headquarters, faculty, and the Administration.  “Shannon is a great addition to our staff, and I look forward to what she will bring to our community,” states Seiler.
