National Hazing Prevention Week 2018

National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW) is an opportunity for organizations, communities, schools, campuses, and individuals to raise awareness, educate and promote the prevention of hazing. The University of Michigan Fraternity and Sorority Life office  is proud to join other schools and groups in recognizing NHPW September 24-28, 2018.



IFC Chapter Recognition Status Statement

Following the recent approval of city zoning regulations that impact fraternity and sorority facilities by requiring organizations maintain affiliation with the university for special permitting, several chapters within U-M’s Interfraternity Council have expressed desire/s to disaffiliate from the university.


Multicultural Greek Council Spring 2018 Gala

In  March 2018,  the Multicultural Greek Council hosted their 5th Annual MGC Spring Gala, raising $1,101 for Beyond Basics. Beyond Basics is a literacy non-profit serving students in Detroit public schools since 2002. The Spring Gala donation will help Beyond Basics administer their Read to Rise Literacy Suite of reading, writing, and mentoring programs, helping children achieve grade-level or higher reading proficiency in 6-weeks.


Strengthening First-Year Experience

Beginning in the 2019-2020 academic year, U-M will change the eligibity requirements for particpation in fraternity and sorority recruitment/intake processes as one effort to strengthen student engagement in the first-year experience at Michigan.
