Kappa Phi Lambda is an Asian-Interest (NOT Asian exclusive) Sorority that strives to strengthen sisterhood amongst womxn by providing service and promoting cultural diversity to our members and our community. We pride ourselves in our diversity, coming from all sorts of cultural backgrounds and interests to come together to work toward the goal of promoting service and cultural diversity to the community around us. While each womxn is unique, we all have the network and bond of sisterhood within our organization on campus and of those throughout the country that keeps us together that helps us achieve our goals.
Lambda Phi Epsilon was founded on February 25, 1981 by a group of nineteen dedicated men led by Principal Founder Master Craig Ishigo. The goal of the founders was to transcend the limitations faced by traditional Asian-interest organizations on campus. While these organizations were often split along lines of national origins, the founders sought an establishment that drew its membership equally from the different segments of the Asian American community. Their vision was that the members would eventually become the leaders of their respective ethnic communities, and thus, bridge the gaps fragmenting the Asian American community through their affiliation with a common organization.
Since its founding in 1975, Lambda Theta Alpha has evolved and continues to be a leader among the fraternal community while remaining true to our Founders’ purpose and mission – to establish a sisterhood based on unity, love and respect, and to serve as a support group catering to the needs of and empowering Latinas in higher education. Although the cultural climate has changed, those ideals still resonate with us. LTA has a motto, “Latin by tradition, not by definition.” As a non-exclusionary sorority open to all ethnicities and backgrounds, the women who join LTA today still feel the need to promote those same values on their campus. The actions of our Founding Mothers have allowed independent women on campus to feel a sense of belonging, creating an environment that allows them to achieve their highest potential. It is as a result of this that Lambda Theta Alpha has come to define a new role for the universal woman – one with education, goals and vision in hope of great success.
Lambda Theta Phi provides the Latino college student the opportunity to be part of a family with a mission. To cultivate a spirit of brotherhood, to value an education, to promote unity among all Latinos, to be proud of and cherish our heritage, to assert roles of leadership, to develop character, to practice chivalry, and to serve mankind. In short, to raise the social and cultural conscience of the Latin male college student.
Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity is a brotherhood dedicated to empowering the Latine community through social/cultural activities using Pan-Americanism as a foundation.
