Fraternity and Sorority Life Impact

There is a rich tradition of fraternities and sororities at the University of Michigan, and fraternity and sorority alumni impact current and future generations of students in various ways.  As chapter advisors, graduate advisors, and alumni board members, they give valuable time advising, teaching, and mentoring students.  The positive impact they make contributes to a community that offers opportunities not necessarily provided through the classroom experience.

Fraternity and sorority alumni can also impact the fraternity and sorority community through their financial support. Since 2009, individual donors to the University of Michigan have been able to direct their donations to Fraternity and Sorority Life. In collaboration with the leadership of the four fraternity and sorority student councils, Fraternity and Sorority Life continually provides programming and educational opportunities on topics such as leadership, health and wellness, bystander behavior, diversity, risk management and service.   Most recently, a portion of these designated funds were used for a weekend-long leadership retreat for over 60 chapter presidents.  It is through these generous donations that we can expand the valuable and necessary programs and educational opportunities available to our students.

The learning environment that fraternities and sororities provide outside of the classroom enhances a student’s overall experience at Michigan.   If you are interested in supporting the Michigan Fraternity and Sorority Community, click here to donate or contact the office (734-936-3686  or [email protected] to get involved.
