Greek Week Supports the Miracle League of Michigan

For the second year in a row, Greek Week chose The Miracle League of Michigan as one of its charities. Over the past two years, Greek Week has donated over $15,000 to The Miracle League of Michigan. This money will be used to help build a new concession stand with acessible bathrooms.

The Miracle League of Michigan makes dreams come true for some very special kids.  Located in Southfield is Michigan's first baseball field for children with any physical or cognitive disability.  Built in 2004, the field has a cushioned synthetic turf that accomodates wheelchairs and other walking devices, while helping prevent injuries.  It provides a level-playing field where individuals with disabliites can hit, run and catch.

The league has a variety of volunteer opportunities.  By giving only a few hours of time, individuals not only make a difference in a special child’s life, but create a positive awareness in themselves.  One of the most important parts of The Miracle League is the “buddy” system – pairing each player with an able bodied friend to assist them on and off the field during a two inning game. Guidance is generously offered by coaches, organization leaders and family members.
