Interim Advisor to Culturally-Based Fraternal Organizations
In addition to supporting our Culturally-based Fraternal Organizations, Zari E. Mahoney-Johnson currently serves as the Project Manager for Life-Changing Education, a two-year, university-wide initiative housed in the Marsal School of Education that examines how learning transforms lives. She leads program design, implementation, and evaluation across the initiative’s impact areas, ensuring all efforts remain equity-centered, student-focused, and aligned with the school’s mission. In this work, Zari partners with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community organizations to create transformative educational experiences and systems that remove barriers to success and extend the impact of learning beyond campus.
Alongside her professional role, Zari has been a dedicated leader within Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. for 13 years. She currently serves as the 4th Anti-Basileus of the Rho Sigma Alumnae Chapter, by way of the Iota Psi “Covergirl” Chapter, where she oversees and advises undergraduate membership intake, supports chapter operations, and advances programming rooted in sisterhood, service, and scholarship. She maintains a strong connection to her undergraduate chapter, Iota Psi, mentoring collegiate members and supporting signature initiatives that empower campus communities.
A Michigan native, Zari earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Community Action & Social Change from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Higher Education, and Student Affairs from Eastern Michigan University. Known for her relational approach, intentionality, and commitment to cultivating belonging and student development, she is thrilled to support the culturally based Greek-letter organizations and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life as a whole.
