Fratenrity & Sorority Life hosted a series of webinars for parents and families of potential and current U-M sorority and fraternity members during the 2019-2020 school year.
The series aimed to provide details about the Fraternity & Sorority Life program, recruitment and intake, chapter housing, and the benefits of participating in the community.
Topics discussed included the following:

- The Four Councils on Campus
- Risk Management and Hazing Prevention
- Culturally-Based Fraternities and Sororities
- Panhellenic and IFC Chapter Housing
- What is Self-Governance?
- Leadership Development Opportunities for Members
- U-M Strategies for Members’ Wellbeing
- How to Report Incidents and Other Concerns
- When and How to Contact Organization Headquarters
- How to FSL Programs
- Virtual Tour of the New Office Location
The webinar series was hosted by Fraternity & Sorority Life staff and featured a variety of campus partners and student leaders. Each webinar lasted approximately 90 minutes, with dedicated time for questions and answers from participants. Materials from completed webinars will be available on the FSL website in the future.
Past Sessions
Session One: FSL Introduction and Recruitment/Intake Overview. Thursday, November 21, 2019, 7:00-8:30 pm EST
An introduction to the long-standing campus program, the staff, and more than 50 chapters. Participants will learn about how interested students can join an organization and how to navigate the FSL website. This session will also include key information about chapter housing and timelines in IFC and Panhel. Registration is required for participants.

Session Two: Supporting the Community
Monday, December 16, 2019, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm EST
This session will offer a close look at the priorities and projects of each of the four councils. Participants will learn how U-M delivers supported self-governance in partnership with student leaders to achieve risk management. This session will also include a discussion about the health and wellness programs provided by the university and FSL to help students succeed and how to ensure students are participating in sorority and fraternity life in healthy, positive ways.
