Allie Lawler is an Environmental Justice Master’s student within SEAS at the University of Michigan. Prior to beginning her new adventure in Michigan, she grew up in Dallas, Texas and made a big move to Fort Collins, Colorado for her undergraduate experience in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability as well as Environmental Affairs at Colorado State University. Throughout her time in Fort Collins, she was able to work with the CSU Admissions Office as an Admissions Ambassador, with the CSU Center for Environmental Justice as a communications intern, and for a local Solar Energy company as a marketing intern. Despite these many jobs, some of her favorite memories were made within her sorority, Pi Beta Phi. Here she was able to serve in a few roles, including the Vice President of Operations, Director of Diversity and Inclusion, and a Leadership and Nominating Committee Member. All of these academic and extracurricular activities (and exploration of the mountains) led Allie to find her passion for people and the environment, bringing her to Michigan. When she graduates from the University of Michigan, she plans to continue fostering relationships with community members wherever she settles and work with folks to ensure they have access to basic energy needs as well as be protected against environmental burdens and pollutants that result from privately owned entities.
